Dark shades such as merlot, sediment, clay, baked earth, terra cotta and even aubergine are balanced with vibrant jewel tones. Purple, pink, fuchsia, apricot and peach are appealing and warm. Bold patterns accompany the bold colors, though often as tone-on-tone to mute the look so it does not become distracting.
